How a Canvas licence works
Site limits only work if the rule is written down. And an expiry should never cost you the website you built.
What counts as a site
- One install, one domain
- A site is one WordPress installation on one domain. Activate the licence there and the seat stays with it until you release it.
- Staging copies are free
- A staging, development or local copy of a site you have already licensed does not use a seat. Test where you like, then push to production.
- Client sites count
- Websites you build and manage for clients use a seat each, the same as your own. Pro covers 10 and Agency covers 100; the agencies page walks through seats and handover.
- Move a licence any time
- Deactivate a site from your dashboard and the seat returns to the pool, so a rebuild, a handover or a domain change costs nothing.
What happens when it expires
- Active
- Everything is on. Premium blocks render and edit, demos import, AI generates, and updates arrive in the WordPress updates screen.
- Grace, 14 days
- If a licence check cannot reach our servers, Canvas carries on as normal while the connection is restored. Nothing changes for you or your visitors.
- Expired
- The site keeps rendering every premium block exactly as before. Updates, new demo imports, AI and editing of premium blocks pause until you renew.
- Never activated
- On an install that has never held a licence, premium blocks render a notice that only administrators can see. Activate a licence and they come back in place.

Which plan is right for me?
Choose on site count. Starter covers 3 websites and suits one business, one portfolio or one side project. Pro covers 10 and is the plan most freelancers and small studios pick. Agency covers 100 and adds multisite network activation. The comparison table puts the four rows that change between plans above everything the three of them share.
How do the AI credits work?
Every plan includes a monthly allowance in two separate pools, one for text and one for images, so a busy writing week never eats your image budget. Starter includes 200 text and 30 image generations a month, Pro 1,000 and 150, and Agency 2,500 and 500. The remaining balance is shown in the editor and on your billing page. Pools reset each month, and if one runs out the editor says so and links to the upgrade page.
What do I pay when my licence renews?
The same price you paid the first time. Canvas renews once a year at the price on your invoice, with no first-year discount that expires into a higher figure. You can cancel the renewal at any time from your dashboard and keep the licence until the term ends.
Can I upgrade my plan later?
Yes, at any time from your dashboard. You pay the difference between the two plans for the time left on your term, and the higher site limit and AI allowance apply straight away. Your existing activations are untouched.
Do you offer a lifetime plan?
No, and the reason is worth saying plainly: a year of Canvas buys two things that cost us money every month.
The first is a new demo website every two weeks, each one a complete multi-page site that is designed, built, photographed and supported. That is a delivery, not a download, and a single payment cannot fund something that keeps arriving. The second is AI credits, which are inference bought from a vendor every time you generate a sentence or an image. Nobody can sell unlimited inference for one payment and still honour it in five years.
So the year buys every update, every new demo, your monthly credits and support, at the price on your invoice and the same price when it renews. What you built stays yours either way: if a licence lapses your site keeps rendering every premium block, exactly as it does today.
